Privacy, ads, and local alarm data.
Effective date: 24 April 2026. This policy explains what Wakely stores on-device, what optional analytics can be sent, and how Google AdMob is used for the home-screen ad placement.
What stays on your device
Wakely stores alarms, puzzle progress, streaks, word history, app theme, and accent colour locally on your device. Removing the app deletes that local data unless your operating system has created its own backup.
What Wakely does not collect directly
Wakely does not ask for identity data, address book access, or photo library access.
Wakely does not request GPS or precise location permissions.
Alarm sounds play locally. Wakely does not upload microphone recordings.
Analytics
Wakely offers an in-app toggle for anonymous product analytics via Mixpanel. If you enable it, Wakely may send screen views, alarm events, puzzle starts and solves, notification permission state, device type, OS version, an anonymous identifier, anonymous user-profile updates, and privacy-masked session replay data.
Wakely is configured to send those analytics events to Mixpanel's EU ingestion endpoint. If you leave analytics disabled, Wakely does not send those optional product analytics events.
Session replay is configured with automatic masking for text, images, web views, and maps by default.
Advertising
Wakely may display one permanent native ad above the alarm list on the home screen. That ad is served by Google AdMob and can be removed permanently through the one-time in-app “Remove ads” purchase.
Wakely requests non-personalised ads only. Even so, Google may process information such as advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from network data, diagnostics, and ad interaction events under Google's own privacy and advertising policies.
Permissions
Wakely requests the minimum permissions needed to work as an alarm app, including:
- Notifications, to show and control alarms
- Exact alarm permissions, to schedule wake-up alarms accurately
- Audio and vibration capabilities, to play alarm sounds and haptics
- Wake lock, to keep the screen active during an alarm
In-app purchases
Wakely may offer a non-consumable in-app purchase to remove ads. Purchase processing is handled by Google Play Billing on Android. Wakely stores the entitlement locally so the ad placement can stay disabled, and users can restore the purchase through the app later.
